First of all, cameesa is a great idea. Something I've thought of myself -- I'm glad someone is doing it.
A couple practical money questions:
* If I "invest" in a shirt that doesn't get printed, my money is returned to my cameesa account and from there can only be used to support or buy other shirts -- not get my cash back?
* Same question for the use of investor returns -- cash or cameesa?
Thanks!
Great question.
You are correct: if you support a design that does not get printed, the money is returned to your Cameesa account.
If you have more than $1 in your Cameesa account you can request a Paypal transfer of money. This means that your returned support and returns can be sent to you via Paypal.
This is currently a manual procedure; email support@cameesa.com to request a Paypal payout. We are currently working on automating this process.
Thanks for the question!
Thanks! One comment I'd add is that I think at 3 cents/sale you won't get nearly as many supporters as you'd need. A nickel isn't that much more and sounds a lot more substantial...
There's not really any downside to supporting. With the $20.00 you put towards support you receive the t-shirt. People tend to support t-shirts they'd like to wear which works out nicely. Through this model the community gets to choose what gets printed in addition to supporting artist. That way artists can keep on making cool stuff!
- viktor commented 93 days agoIn addition, we are considering a 'Support Reward' system where the earlier you get in on a design, then the more you will make. For example, if you are the bring the design from 0% to 2% Supporter then you will get 10 cents, but if you are the last Supporter (bring design from 98% to 100%) then you will only get 1 cent.....how does something like this sound???
- kamil commented 93 days agoSupport Reward sounds interesting. I was thinking more about this and I think there needs to be some incentive for buying more than one share -- since you probably don't want more than one shirt you're trading the shirt for a higher percentage.
- thatrobert commented 93 days agoI agree that there should be a greater incentive to buying more shares. Is it possible to scale a greater percentage per shirt if multiple shares are purchased? Just an idea to get even more shirts supported and in the store.
- Vandelizer commented 92 days agoI also agree with this idea, I just put $40 on one of the shirts and realized I will still only get one shirt but 2 shares of returns. Instead of getting a second shirt for the 2nd share, maybe you should get a higher percentage starting at share #2 and then level off or keep increasing. Food for thought.
- LarryWMU commented 53 days agoThanks Larry, we are currently implementing the Multi-Part Support system. One thing with shirt vs. returns options is the complexity fort the user interface...definitely a possibility though. We will discuss that option very soon. Feel free to give more feedback about any other ideas you have.
