Trademarked 'designs' being approved?
Is anyone concerned (can be read upset and/or outraged) at the rash of Ragnarok designs on the approved entries? Lots of odd anime pieces (some with Ragnarok slapped onto them) getting approved by staff for people to support... I'm confused. Wouldn't this hurt Cameesa by printing designs with trademarked material? I mean 11 designs get slapped up tonight and they're all the same weird brand stuff. Surely cameesa doesn't want to print gear for another site... or do they?

Well, it seems to be part of a Cameesa partnership with Ragnarok. I'm not too fond of it myself. I find the influx of entries all related to the same thing and in the same art style rather annoying.

And I may be out of the loop, but what the heck is Ragnarok? Video game? Company that makes video games? Anime movie? New kind of snack pita chips? This direction, along with the quality of the last shirt I got, is really re-enforcing the fact that I'm getting scared where Cameesa is going.

It isn't random. Cameesa has partnered with the company to produce Ragnarok shirts.
Ragnarok Submission Instructions
Submissions due by July 14 @ 6pm CST
* The Ragnarok Online Theme for this event is: Summer!
* For the purpose of this event, Gravity Interactive, Inc. grants limited license to use Characters, NPCs, Monsters, and Map themes for the shirt design to the participants of this event.
* Be sure to show Characters and Monsters of Ragnarok having a great time in a summer atmosphere!

Ragnarok Online (from Wikipedia): "Ragnarok Online (Korean: 라그나로크 온라인), often referred to as RO, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game or MMORPG created by GRAVITY Co., Ltd. based on the manhwa Ragnarok by Lee Myung-jin. It was first released in South Korea on 31 August 2001 for Microsoft Windows and has since been released in many other locales around the world. Much of the game's mythos is based on Norse mythology, but its style has been influenced by Christianity and Asian cultures. The game has spawned an animated series, Ragnarok the Animation, and a sequel game, Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World."

If cameesa is allowing another brand to create shirts here, they REALLY need to put some quality checks in place for regular shirts. And probably allow the Ragnarok subs to expire. No one REALLY needs 40 Ragnarok shirts.

I missed this 'contest' set up in the forums... still, the designs and the contest aren't going to cause me to be more positive about it. Besides the fact that I've known people who were into this (bad doesn't begin to explain it, IMO) anime MMORPG game, I find it kills the essence of Cameesa.
Now, I'm sure RO and Cameesa were trying to come up with something new and find a way to include RO's community in a contest, but I feel this could/should have been separated from the rest of the actual community if they wanted to run a special contest. I think it will make many people upset to see RO shirts out doing long time designs that have been up, looking and waiting to be supported.
I also agree with Adder's suggestion to expire the designs after a certain amount of time. Not so much because we don't need 40 RO shirts (though, I certainly agree with him on this), but the more likely reason: they'll likely take them to CP or Zazzle to print them on their own if they don't want to wait for the company to print it and would otherwise be violating the rules of Cameesa.

@AdderXYU. Great suggestion. Maybe we should the subs off of the general support listing and leave it in the ragnarok section of the site.

I agree with Adder as well.

I say keep all the Ragnarok shirt in a separate support area. "Operations" should be kept in a different place then general submissions. Anyone else agree?
- Dalmatinac commented 256 days ago
There definitely needs to be a seperate area for the 8,000 new shirts that pertain to a select few people. The whole feel of the site seems to be changing... and not necessarily for the better
- Rsimianer commented 256 days ago
I agree that the Ragnarok stuff needs to be separate from the general submissions. It has completely changed the whole vibe towards Cameesa.
- Griggitee commented 256 days ago
Hi Everyone,
We will be placing all co-branded submissions (Operations) within their respective section of the site. We will be removing these designs from the general support area.
Thanks for your feedback everyone!
- viktor commented 256 days ago
Yea! Thanks, viktor!

The update is complete.

Wow.
Just wow.
God forbid people try to get a win win relationship going by
a. spreading word about cameesa
b. finding an innovative way to involve a separate community.
Maybe next time Ragnarok should just set up an internal contest and go to cafepress.

@All, the partnership with Gravity Interactive has been amazing and we are very happy with the feedback. Many new people have learned about Cameesa and we will be providing a crowdfunding/fulfillment opportunity for Ragnarok, which is a WIN WIN WIN.
Thanks guys.

No offense, but alot of these comments sound like "I liked this website before it got all popular". Ragnarok Online (Or RO as we call it) is an MMORPG that has been around for many years. It's a fun game with nice graphics (similar to Final Fantasy Tactics) and various job classes. It's certainly not the best game, but it is a fun game and there are a lot of nice people who play it. I've been playing for quite a few years now and I've made some lasting friendships.
Many of the comments I've read so far in this topic as well as others sound very snobbish to be honest. Things like "They should be separated from the main community" are very high horse. Just because we play an online game and/or happen to like anime? Just because there's a bunch of new shirts that all follow a theme that you don't get? Sure, most people wouldn't need 40 different Ragnarok shirts, but everyone has a different taste. It's called "variety".
Don't think that you're so clever for putting down things that you don't fully understand. Everyone is entitled to an opinion - I'm expressing mine right now - but for crying out loud! Those of you who think you're too good for the rest of us please get over yourselves. This website is a business, and businesses have to make money. While they are here to help support your ideals and make you happy, they are also here for the rest of us who have our own. This website does not revolve around you - or me.
This comment isn't directed at any particular person, it's just a general statement. And that's my two cents. =P

This is a shirt site. You are a role playing game.
The shirt site part is sponsoring the RPG, and vice versa. It gives the designers here a chance to get exposure with your people, it gives the site here the chance to get exposure with a new audience, and to some degree, it gives your game the exposure of a different audience as well.
But just as a rock band will go back to drinking Coke after they get off the "Pepsi Xtreme Rock Tour 09", Cameesa will go back to selling non-Ragnarok shirts when this promo is over. At the end of the day, they are two seperate entities, and just like you wouldn't want a bunch of graphic design fans trying to make your game about tshirts, we don't want a bunch of gamers coming here and making the site about their game. Simply put, this is not a gaming site. Hopefully it never will be. And as such, while cameesa may not revolve around me, or around you, or around anyone in this thread, it does revolve around the customers who are here to support and print awesome shirts. Maybe there is an awesome shirt in the Ragnarok selections. But people supporting those shirts aren't here for this company. They're here for Ragnarok. And like any good company, Cameesa is going to try to please both sides, but will most certainly err on the side of their everyday consumer base. Turning your back on the people who believe in your brand (as opposed to just wanting to buy their personal favorite things) is career suicide
